KEA follows reservation policies based on the State Government policies. KCET reserves certain seats for the candidates falling in the various categories and Seat Allotment will be done based the availability of seats, candidate’s choice and the category they belong to. KCET Jammu and Kashmiri Migrants Reservation
KCET provides reservation for the wards of the migrants of Jammu and Kashmir. In order to claim this reservation the candidate should provide the proof of migration obtained from the jurisdictional ‘District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner’ of any Indian State during the document verification phase.
One seat is reserved in all Engineering colleges and Medical colleges for candidates who are wards of Jammu & Kashmir migrants irrespective of courses.Wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants must provide the proof of such migration (Identity Card) should be obtained and produced from the jurisdictional “District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner” of any state in India.

- SSLC / 10th standard Marks Card
- 2nd PUC / 12th standard Marks Card of the candidate along with
- A Original Certificate (Identity Card) issued by the Jurisdictional District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of any state in India, as the proof of migration.
KCET Defence Personnel of Karnataka Origin Reservation 2019
Son or daughter of Defence Personnel falling under Eligibility Clauses (e), (f) and (g) should obtain the Defence certificates in the prescribed format appended to this brochure failing which they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later allotment of seats under Defence.
Defence personnel for the purpose of these clauses means a person in Defence Service including Personnel belonging to Civil GT COYS ASC who were Civilian Class ‘III’ or Class ‘IV’ Government servants and ‘Border Roads Organisational Personnel’.
- Candidates claiming eligibility under Eligibility Clauses (e) should produce the certificate of employment issued by the Controlling Office in the prescribed format where the parent is working, Indicating the period during which the parent has worked in Karnataka.
- Candidates claiming eligibility under Eligibility Clauses (f) should produce a certificate from the Record Office of the Defence Unit in the prescribed format indicating that the parent had declared a place in Karnataka as his home town at the time of joining the service.
- Candidates claiming eligibility under Eligibility Clauses (g) should produce a certificate from the Controlling Office in the prescribed format indicating the period during which the parent has worked in Karnataka, the present place of posting and also the fact that his family is permitted to stay in Karnataka.
- Provided that 10% of the seats shall be reserved horizontally for allotment to the children of defence personnel of Karnataka Origin from among the total seats reserved for defence personals. (Candidates claiming eligibility under Eligibility Clauses (f))
- Candidates belonging to Defence will be considered for allotment of seats in the respective special category seats as per their merit order ONLY in the General Round of allotment of seats along with the other general merit and reserved category candidates.
KCET Ex-Defence Personnel of Karnataka Origin Reservation 2019
Son or daughter of Ex‐Servicemen falling under Eligibility Clauses (h) should obtain a certificate showing the home address of the parent issued by the Joint Director / Deputy Director of the concerned district and countersigned by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Bangalore, failing which they will not be allowed for verification of certificates and also for the later allotment of seats under Ex‐Defence.
Ex‐Servicemen for the purpose of this clause include personnel belonging to the Civil GT COYS ASC who were Civilian Class III or Class IV Government Servants, who became permanently disabled or were killed during hostilities.
KCET Central Armed Police Force Category Reservation 2019

KCET 2019 Anglo-Indian Reservation Category
Candidates from Anglo‐Indian Community certificate issued by the Registered Association of the Anglo Indian Community in the State of Karnataka countersigned by the Anglo‐Indian MLA Nominated by the Government, failing which they will not be allowed for the later allotment of seats under Anglo‐Indian. The candidates claiming under Anglo Indian Special category quota should submit their documents only at KEA Office in Bangalore.
Candidates belonging to Anglo‐Indian will be considered for allotment of seats in the respective special category seats as per their merit order ONLY in the General Round of allotment of seats along with the other general merit and reserved category candidates.
KCET Rural Candidates Reservation
Candidates belonging to Rural area/region of Karnataka can claim reservation under Rural candidate category. 15% of seats will be reserved for such candidates.
What is a Rural area/region?
The rural region of Karnataka includes all places other than larger urban area, smaller urban area and transitional area as mentioned in the Karnataka Municipal Act.
Reservation details
15% of the Government seats will be reserved horizontally in favour of rural candidates who have studied for 10 full academic years from 1st Standard to10th Standard in educational institutions situated in places in the State of Karnataka other than larger urban area, smaller urban area or transitional area as mentioned in Karnataka Municipalities Act.
The Eligibility Criteria is as defined in the Karnataka Reservation of Appointments of Posts in the Civil services of the State for Rural Candidates Act, 2000 (Karnataka Act 1of 2001). The candidates whose parents do not come under the creamy layer and the candidates who have studied 10 full academic years from 1st Standard to 10th Standard in rural region will be eligible for claiming the benefit of Rural reservations.
Certificate to be submitted
The candidates who claim seat under rural category will have to obtain a rural study certificate from the respective school / high school issued by the head of the institution which should be countersigned by the concerned Block Educational Officer (BEO) as per format shown below. General merit candidates who claims seat in rural category should also submit an income certificate issued from the concerned Tahasildar along with the rural study certificate as per format shown below.
And the income limit is Rs.6,00,000/-

- The candidates whose parents come under creamy layer are not eligible to claim the benefit of rural reservation.

KCET Kannada Medium Reservation
Who are eligible for Kannada Medium reservation?
The candidates who have studied in Kannada medium for complete 10 years from class 1 to class 10 are eligible for Kannada Medium Reservation. If candidates have studied classes 1 - 10 in Kannada medium outside Karnataka then they must have passed QE from any government or government-aided institution.
5% of the Government seats will be reserved horizontally in favour of the Kannada medium candidates who have studied TEN full academic years inthe Government Order No. ED 118 UEC 2000, Bangalore dated 04‐06‐Bangalore dated 14‐10‐2005.
The candidates who have studied TEN full academic years in Kannada Medium from 1st standard to 10th standard in places outside the state of Karnataka need not appear for Kannada Language Test conducted by KEA provided the candidate should have studied and passed the qualifying examination from any Government or Government recognised educational institution.

A domicile certificate issued by the concerned Revenue or Municipal Authorities certifying that the candidate and his father / mother have resided outside the state of Karnataka as on 01-05- 2019. - Candidate’s Study certificate, for having studied in Kannada Medium from 1st standard to 10th standard issued by the head of the institution.
Kannada Medium Certificate:
- Candidates who have studied in Kannada Medium from 1st to 10th Std. in Karnataka and outside the state of Karnataka must submit the certificate.
- No income limit is set
- Candidates claiming the benefit of Kannada Medium reservation should produce a certificate for having studied 10 full academic years in Kannada medium from 1st standard to 10th standard issued by the Head of the educational institution and such certificate should be countersigned by the respective BEO or DDPI in the proforma prescribed below
KCET OBC/SC/ST under category - 1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B Reservation
Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes under category 1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B can claim reservation in KCET examination.
Candidates claiming reservation under SC/ST and OBC category are required to submit the Caste certificate/Caste Income Certificate issued by the Jurisdictional Tahasildar. Candidates belonging to SC/ST and category-1 should produce Income Certificate.
Only candidates of Karnataka origin and who are claiming eligibility for Government seats in accordance with the Eligibility clause (a), (b),(f), (h), (j), (k), (l) and (o) shall be eligible to claim the benefit of reservation. The candidates claiming eligibility for Government seats under Eligibility clauses (c), (d), (e), (g), (i), (m), (n) are not eligible to claim the benefit of reservation.
KCET Sports Special Category Reservation
Sports Reservation fall under Special category reservation along with Ex‐Defence, Anglo‐Indian, NCC, CAPF / CRPF / CISF / BSF / ITBP, Defence, Ex‐CAPF and Scouts and Guides.
Candidates claiming Special category reservation should produce the relevant original Special category certificate along with TWO sets of photocopies COMPULSORILY, to KEA IN PERSON ONLY DURING OFFICE HOURS. They should also produce three photocopies of their 'CET 2019' Admission Ticket. Sending the documents in Post or any other means is strictly prohibited. An acknowledgement slip will be issued for having received the special category certificates which has to be retained till original are taken back from KEA. Candidates who do not submit their original Special Category Certificates on the notified dates, WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE for further verification and they will not be considered for allotment of seats under the respective Special categories.

KCET Scouts and Guides Reservation
Candidates who as “Scouts / Guides”, have received the “President’s Award” during five‐year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standards are eligible for Scouts and Guides reservation.
The candidate should compulsorily produce the “President’s Award” certificate during the document verification round along with other certificates.
Candidates belonging to Scouts & Guides, Defence, Ex‐defence and Anglo‐Indian, CAPF, Ex‐CAPF i. e., sub‐ clauses (c), (d), (e).(g), (h) and (i) above, will be considered for allotment of seats in the respective special category seats as per their merit order ONLY in the General Round of allotment of seats along with the other general merit and reserved category candidates
KCET PWD Reservation
Candidates with physical disability with more than 40% are eligible for CET reservation. Candidates claiming reservation under physically disabled category will have to appear for a medical examination at the KEA office, Bangalore. The Medical examination Committee comprise of the Executive Director, KEA as Chairman and three specialists from the Department of Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and ENT, nominated by the Government.
Candidates with physical disability ranging above 40% should produce a Medical certificate issued by competent Doctor of any Government Hospital located in the State of Karnataka in the field of concerned disability, only on the day of Medical examination.
Candidates suffering from hearing disability should compulsorily obtain and produce a BSER (Brain Stem Evoked Response) Audiometry report from All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore / NIMHANS, Bangalore / Manipal Hospital / Government Speech and Hearing Institute, Lingarajapuram, Bangalore.
The Medical Board will examine the certificate and the candidate and then certifies the candidate of the percentage of disability. The decision of the Medical Board is final in this regard.
Candidate whose disability is less than 40% will not be eligible for reservation.
KCET NCC Category Reservation
Who are eligible for NCC Category Reservation?
- Candidates from Karnataka who have participated in Republic Day Camp conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the five year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standard
- Candidates from Karnataka who have participated in the following camps conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the five‐year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standard namely
- All India Thal Sainik Camp (Boys) ‐ TSC (B),
- All India Thal Sainik Camp (Girls) ‐ TSC (G),
- All India Nau Sainik Camp ‐ NSC,
- All India Vayu Sainik Camp – VSC,
- Cadets who have been finally selected as a part of DG NCC team to participate in All India Movalankar Shooting Championship at National Level AND Youth Exchange Programmes and Foreign Naval Cruise organised by DG, NCC.
- Candidates from Karnataka who have participated in the following camps conducted by the Director General of NCC, New Delhi and who possess ‘B’ Certificate obtained during the five‐year period of study in Karnataka between 8th and 12th standard namely

The preferential criteria for the selection for a reserved seat under NCC category, are as follows:
Preference 1:Candidates possessing ‘B’ Certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in the Republic Day camp.
Preference 2: Candidates possessing B’ certificate and adjudged overall All India Best Cadet with Gold / Silver / Bronze medal in camps mentioned at (a) to (e) of sub‐clause (ii) above.
Preference 3:‘B’ certificate holders who have participated in the Youth Exchange Programmes and Foreign Naval Cruise organised by DG, NCC.
Preference 4:'B’ certificate holders who have participated from Karnataka in the Republic Day camp.
Preference 5:B’ Certificate holders who have participated from Karnataka in the camps mentioned at (a) to (e) of sub‐clause (iii) above.
Preference 6:‘B’ Certificate holders who have participated in the mountaineering / sailing / motorcycle / cycling expeditions organized by DG NCC /NCC Directorate of KAR and GOA.
Preference 7:‘B’ Certificate holders who have participated in the camps mentioned at sub clause (iv) para above.
Preference 8:Candidates possessing ONLY ‘B’ Certificate. (NCC candidates possessing only ’B’ certificate
While considering the candidates mentioned in sub‐clauses (i) and (ii) above, gold medal winners will be preferred to silver medallist who in turn will be preferred to bronze medallist under the respective sub‐clauses. Further the Director of NCC or his authorised nominee shall be present in the KEA on the appointed days along with the list of eligible NCC candidates in the order of preference i.e. 1 to 7 to assist in the selection of candidates under NCC special category.
KCET Supernumerary Quota(SNQ) Category Reservation
SNQ or Supernumerary Quota (SNQ) are for the candidates who are economically weak. The SNQ allows students from the economically weaker sections of the society to gain admission in engineering colleges across the state for reduced tuition fees.
- The entire government fees is waived off for an eligible candidate and s/he only has to pay a token amount for other costs.
- If the candidates income is less that Rs. 6.0 lakhs per year, you become automatically eligible for SNQ quota. Of course, the number of eligible candidate per candidate is limited to 5 percent of the total available seats.
- The seats are alloted under the SNQ purely based on the merit lists and ranks.
- The candidates have to make sure that they produce an income certificate issued by a Jurisdictional Tahasildar or the Block Education Officer and submit it at the document verification stage of the examination.
- Income Certificate (For Supernumerary quota seats only) (Income limit Rs.6,00,000/-) : All candidates including General Merit candidates are eligible for Supernumerary quota seats. The eligibility for supernumerary quota seats is given at the following pages. The candidates who claim seat under “Supernumerary Quota” will have to obtain an income certificate from the concerned Tahasildar.

KCET Hyderabad Karnataka Region Reservation
Which is the Hyderabad Karnataka region?
The districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary are considered a Hyderabad-Karnataka region.
70%of the available seats in every course in any regional university or educational institution that belong to Hyderbada-Karnataka region are reserved for local persons.
8% of the available seats in each course of study in a state wise university or state wise educational institution are reserved for the local candidates of Hyderabad- Karnataka region.
Reservation as per “The Karnataka Educational Institutions (Regulations of Admission in the Hyderabad‐Karnataka Region) Order, 2013”.
- The part of the State called the Hyderabad‐Karnataka Region comprising the districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary shall be regarded as the local area.
- 70% of the available seats in every course of study in any regional University or educational institution located in the places referred above in the local area shall be reserved in favour of the local persons, in respect of such University or education institution.
- 8% of the available seats in every course of study provided in a state wide University or a statewide educational institution be allocated among the local candidates of the Hyderabad‐Karnataka Region.
- The eligible candidates should produce the relevant certificate issued by the concerned Assistant Commissioner during document verification to become eligible to claim seat under Hyderabad‐Karnataka Reservation (Article 371 (J))
