When acetophenone reacts with lithium aluminium hydride, we get a secondary alcohol. We know that the lithium aluminium hydride is a good reducing agent. It is white flammable solid LiAlH4 soluble in ether that is made by the reaction of lithium hydride and anhydrous aluminium chloride and that is used as a reducing agent, especially for organic compounds, as a carboxylic acid to an alcohol.
