Key Idea: The electrovalent bond is formed between atoms which have difference in electronegativity more than 1.7. One of the atoms should be electron donor while other should be electron acceptor. (i) P and Cl and H and S form covalent bond among them because the difference in their electronegativity is less than 1.7. (ii) NH3 and BF3 form coordinate bond as N in NH3 donates electrons to B in BF3 . (iii) H and Ca form ionic bond because the difference in their electronegativity is more than 1.7.
