Aldehydes which do not contain an -hydrogen atom, treated with concentrated alkali solution to give alcohol and salt of carboxylic acid is called Cannizaro reaction.
Example - Benzaldehyde reacts with alkali to give benzyl alcohol and sodium benzoate.
