Solution:
Benzene sulphonyl chloride ( C6H5SO2Cl ), which is also known as Hinsberg’s reagent, reacts with primary and secondary amines to form sulphonamides. The reaction of benzene sulphonyl chloride with primary amine yields N-alkylbenzenesulphonamide.
Aliphatic primary amines upon reaction with nitrous acid, they give primary alcohols.
The reactions as follows :
(i) C2H5NH2+C6H5SO2Cl→C6H5SO2NHC2H5+HCl
(ii) C2H5NH2+HNO2→[C2H5N2+Cl−]→H2OC2H5OH+N2+HCl
