Serum albumin constitutes about 50% of the total protein and produces 75-80\% of colloidal osmotic pressure. The protein binds plasma calcium and some fatty acids.
Globulins are 16% of total plasma protein and are of 3 types- α,β and γ-globulin. α-globulin is involved in transporting thyroxine and bilirubin. β-globulin binds vitamin-A, D and K, cholesterol and ions. γ-globulins are immunoglobulins.
