Further oxidation of nitrite to nitrate (by Bacteria - Nitrobacter)
Denitrification: Some bacteria such as Thiobacillus denitrificans, Pseudomonas aoruginosa and Micrococcus denitrificans also occur in the soil which convert the nitrate and ammonia into atmospheric free elemental nitrogen.
