Q.
In cyclic structure of (SO3)x if x is number of SO3 molecules involved in cycle formation and y is the number of sp3 hybridised S -atoms. What is the sum of x+y ?
Sulphur trioxide exists as a cyclic trimer, in which each sulphur undergo sp3 hybridisation. In this molecule, each sulphur is connected to four oxygen atoms. There three sulphur trioxide molecules involved in the formation six membered rings and all three sulphur atoms are sp3 hybridised. x=3,y=3
So x+y=6
