∴ ΔABC is a right angled triangle.
∴ We apply pythagoras theorem.
AC2 = AB2 + BC2
(2R)2 = (R + r) 2 + (R + r)2 = 2 (R + r)2
4R2 = 2 (R + r)2
2 R2 = (R + r)2
2 R2 = (R + r)2




r = (1.414 – 1) R
r = 0.414 R
