Q.
An ether solution of PhCH3(I),PhNH2(II) and PhOH(III) is extracted with aqueous NaOH. The ether layer will contain what compound(s) after the extraction?
When ethernal solution of PhCH3 (I), PhNH2 (II) PhOH (III) is extracted with aqueous NaOH, only PhOH reacts with NaOH to form sodium phenoxide salt which layers separately whereas PhCH3 and PhNH2 cannot react with NaOH and lie in ethernal layer.
