(i) Etard reagent : The chromyl chloride (CrO2Cl2) dissolved in CCl4 is known as Etard reagent. It is used to convert toluene into benzaldehyde.
(ii) Benedict reagent : It is an alkaline solution of cupric ions complexed with citrate ions.
It is used for the detection of sugars in urine because sugar contain aldehydic group.
(iii) Mullikan's reagent 10%CaCl2 solution and Zn dust is known as Mullikan's reagent. It is used in the detection of −NO2 group.
(iv) Baeyer's reagent 1% alkaline KMnO4 solution is called Baeyer's reagent. It is used for the test of unsaturation.
