Q.
Which of the following pairs in angiosperms are diploid and triploid, respectively?
J & K CETJ & K CET 2015Sexual Reproduction in Flowering Plants
Solution:
The secondary nucleus and endosperm are the part of the developing seeds of angiosperm. Two polar bodies fuse to form secondary nucleus $(2n)$. This structure when fuses with a male nuclei forms triploid structure $(3-n)$ called primary endosperm nucleus which on division forms the endosperm $(3n)$. This provides nutrition to the developing seed.
