Q. Which of the following has the highest calorific value?

BHUBHU 2007

Solution:

Coal gas with $H _{2}(49 \%), CH _{4}(32 \%)$ and $CO (8 \%)$ has the highest calorific value. Water gas with $CO (48 \%)$ and $H _{2}(51 \%)$ has lesser calorific value than coal gas. Producer gas with $CO (35 \%)$ and $N _{2}(65 \%)$ has a still lesser calorific value. $CO _{2}$ has no calorific value. Thus calorific values decrease in the order.
coal gas $>$ water gas $>$ producer gas
