Q. What volume of 3 molar $HNO_{3}$ is needed to oxides 8 g of $Fe^{2 +}$ to $Fe^{3 +}$ ? $HNO_{3}$ gets converted to NO

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

$H\overset{+ 5}{N O}_{3} \rightarrow \overset{+ 2}{N O}$
n-factor = 5 - 2 = 3
Eq. weight of $HNO_{3}=M/3$
$\text{milli} \, \text{eq} \text{.} \, \text{of} \, \text{HNO}_{\text{3}} \, \text{=} \, \text{milli} \, \text{eq} \text{.} \, \text{of} \, \text{Fe}^{\text{2+}}$
or $3\times 3\times V=\frac{8}{56}\times 1000$
So $V=15.87 mL$
$\cong \, \text{16} \, \text{mL}$
