Solution:
The potential difference across the Zener diode and the resistance $R_{2}$ is the same because they are in parallel connection.
$V_{z}=V_{2}=6V$
Let the potential difference across $R_{1}$ is $V_{1}$ , then
$16=V_{1}+6$
$V_{1}=10V$
$I_{1}R_{1}=10$
$I_{1}=\frac{10}{1000}=0.01A$
$I_{2}R_{2}=6V$
$I_{2}=\frac{6}{1000}=0.006A$
$I=0.01-0.006=0.004A=4mA$
