Q. Two waves of frequency $f$ and amplitude ' $a$ ' superimpose with each other. The total intensity is directly proportional to

AP EAMCETAP EAMCET 2020

Solution:

When two waves of same frequency $f$ and having same amplitude $a$ superimpose, then resultant amplitude,
$A=+a=2 a$
Total intensity $I$ of resultant wave is directly proportional to square of amplitude.
i.e., $I \propto A^{2} \Rightarrow I \propto(2 a)^{2}$
$\Rightarrow I \propto 4 a^{2}$
