Q. Two bodies of masses $10\, kg$ and $20\, kg$ respectively kept on a smooth, horizontal surface are tied to the ends of a light string. A horizontal force $F = 600\, N$ is applied to $20 \,kg$ as shown

Solution:

For the $20\, kg$ mass,
$600-T=20 a$
$a=\frac{600 N }{(20 kg +10 kg )}=20 ms ^{-2}$
$\Rightarrow T=600-20(a)=600-(20)(20)=200 N$
