Q. The velocity of a body moving with uniform acceleration at a given instant of time t is $10 \,m/s$. After $5\, s$ its velocity is $20 \,m/s$. Distance travelled in that time is:

Solution:

From equation of motion $v=u+a t$
Given, $v=20 \,m / s , u=10 \,m / s , t=5\, s$
$\therefore a=\frac{10}{5}=2\, m / s^{2}$
Also, $v^{2}=u^{2}+2 a s(20)^{2}$
$=(10)^{2}+2 \times 2 s$
$ \Rightarrow s=\frac{300}{4}=75 \,m$
