Solution:

Area from $0$ to $10\, s =\frac{1}{2}[10+4] 5=35\, m$
Area from $10$ to $12\, s =\frac{1}{2} \times 2 \times(-2.5)=-2.5\, m$
Distance travelled $=35+2.5=37.5\, m$
