Here,$\bar{x}=\frac{2+4+6+8+10}{5}=6$
Hence, variance$=\frac{1}{n}\Sigma\left(x_{i}-\bar{x}\right)^{2}$
$=\frac{1}{5}\left\{\left(2-6\right)^{2}+\left(4-6\right)^{2}+\left(6-6\right)+\left(8-6\right)^{2}+\left(10-6\right)^{2}\right\}$
$=\frac{1}{5}\left\{(16+4+0+ 4 +16\right\}=\frac{1}{5}\left\{40\right\} =8$
