Q. The value of universal gas constant is $R=8.3\, J / k - mol$. The value of $R$ in atmosphere litre per kelvin per mol

Physical World, Units and Measurements

Solution:

As, $R=8.3\, J / K$ -mol
Now, $n_{1} u_{1}=n_{2} u_{2}$
$\left(u_{1}\right.$ and $u_{2}$ are units while $n_{1}$ and $n_{2}$ are the numerical values)
$\therefore n_{2} =\frac{n_{1} u_{1}}{u_{2}}$
$=\frac{8.3 J / K - mol }{ atmL / K - mol }$
$=\frac{8.3 J / K - mol }{\left(1.013 \times 10^{5} N / m ^{2}\right)\left(10^{-3} m ^{3}\right) / K - mol }$
$=\frac{8.12}{10^{2}}=0.0812$
$\therefore 8.3\, J / K - mol =0.0812\, atm\, L / K$ -mol
