Solution:

For common-emitter transistor
$\beta=\frac{\alpha}{1-\alpha} $
$\Rightarrow \frac{1-\alpha}{\alpha}=\frac{1}{\beta}$
or $\frac{1}{\alpha}-\frac{1}{\beta}=1$
