Q. The temperature at which the speed of sound becomes double as was at $27^{\circ }C$ is

AIPMTAIPMT 1993Waves

Solution:

velocity of sound $v \propto \sqrt{T}$
$\therefore \frac{v}{2 v}=\frac{\sqrt{273+27}}{\sqrt{T}} $
or $ T=1200 K=972^{\circ} C$
