Q. The rate of reaction, $A+B \to $ Products; is given by the equation $r=k[A][B]$. If $B$ is taken in large excess, the order of the reaction would be

Chemical Kinetics

Solution:

$r=k[A][B]$

If $B$ is in large excess then rate becomes independent of $[B]$ and will depend only on $[A] .$ Therefore, the order of reaction with respect to $[A]$ is one.
