Q. The minimum magnetic dipole moment of electron in hydrogen atom is

AIIMSAIIMS 2012Atoms

Solution:

Magnetic dipole moment of electron in an atom is given as
$M=\frac{n eh}{4 \pi m}=n\mu_{ B }$
where, n = number of orbit
$\quad\quad\mu_{B}=$Bohr Magneton
For minimum dipole moment, $n = 1$
$\therefore M=\frac{eh}{4 \pi m}$
