Q. The mass of $CaCO_3$ produced when carbon dioxide is bubbled through $500 \,mL$ of $0.5 \,M $ $Ca(OH)_2$ will be

Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry

Solution:

$Ca(OH)_{2}+CO_{2} \to CaCO_{3}+H_{2}O$
$Ca(OH)_{2}=0.5\times500\times10^{-3}$ moles
$=0.25$ mol
Now $1$ mole $Ca(OH)_{2}$ gives $CaCO_{3}=100\,g$
$0.25$ mole $Ca(OH)_{2}$ gives $CaCO_{3}$
$=0.25\times100=25\,g$
