Q. The increasing order of energies of various molecular orbitals of $N_2$ is given below:
$\sigma 1s < \sigma^* 1s <\sigma 2 s <\sigma^* 2 s < \pi 2 p_{x} $
$= \pi 2 p _{y} < \sigma 2 p_{z} < \pi^* 2p_{x} = \pi^* 2p_{y} < \sigma^* 2p_{z}$
The above sequence is not true for the molecule

Solution:

For all elements which have atomic number more than $7$ (beyond nitrogen) the energy of $\sigma 2p_z$ is lower than $\pi 2p_x$ and $\pi 2p_y$ -orbitals.
