Q. The frequency of a tuning fork is $384\, m/s$ and velocity of sound in air is $352\, m/s$. Find how far the sound has traversed while fork completes $36$ vibrations.

Solution:

The distance moved by the wave in the time of one complete oscillation of a particle of the medium is called the wavelength $(X)$.
Also $\lambda =\frac{\text{velocity (v)}}{\text{frequency (n)}}$
Given, $n=384/s,\,v=352\,m/s$
Distance moved in $36$ vibrations is
$\lambda =\frac{36\times 352}{384}=33\,m$.
