Q. The first diffraction minimum due to single slit diffraction is formed at $\theta$, for light of wave length $5000 A$, if the width of slit is $1 \times 10^{-4}$, then the value of $\theta$ is

Solution:

$a \sin \theta=n \lambda$
$ \Rightarrow 1 \times 10^{-4} \times 10^{-2} \sin \theta=1 \times 5 \times 10^{-7} $
$\Rightarrow \sin \theta=0.5$
$\theta=30^{\circ}$
