Q. The chloride of a metal contains $71 \%$ chlorine by weight and the vapour density of it is $50 .$ The atomic mass of the metal will be (valency of metal is 2)

Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry

Solution:

Mol. wt. of metal chloride $=2 \times V . D$

$=2 \times 50=100$

Let at. wt. of metal is $x$

so $x+71=100$

$x=100-71=29$
