Q. $SbF_{3}$ reacts with $XeF_{4}$ and $XeF_{6}$ to form ionic compounds $\left[X e F_{3}^{+}\right]\left[S b F_{6}^{-}\right]$ and $\left[X e F_{5}^{+}\right]\left[S b F_{6}^{-}\right]$ then molecular shape of $\left[X e F_{3}^{+}\right]$ ion and $\left[X e F_{5}^{+}\right]$ ion respectively

Solution:

The shapes of these ions are as follows

$\left[\right.XeF_{3}^{+}\left]\right.:$ Solution Bent-T shape ( $sp^{3}d$ -hybridisation)

$\left[\right.XeF_{5}^{+}\left]\right.:$ Solution Square pyramidal ( $sp^{3}d^{2}$ -hybridisation)
