Q. Reaction coordinate diagram for the reaction
$COCl _{2}( g ) \longrightarrow CO ( g )+ Cl _{2}( g ), \quad \Delta H =103.1 \,kJ$
with $\log \,k \left(\min ^{-1}\right)=\frac{-11420}{T}+15.154$ is

Chemical Kinetics

Solution:

By Arrhenius equation

$\log _{10} \,k =-\frac{E_{a}}{2.303 R T}+\log \,A$

$\therefore \frac{E_{a}}{2.303}=11420 \,K$

$\therefore E_{a}=11420 \times 2.303 \times R K$

$=11420 \times 2.303 \times 8.314 \times 10^{-3} \,kJ\, mol \,K ^{-1} K$

$=218.67 \,kJ\, mol ^{-1}$

Given reaction is endothermic, $\Delta H =+103.1 \,kJ$

Thus, reaction-coordinate diagram is
