Q. Match the compounds in Column I with their characteristic test(s)/ reaction(s) given in Column II:
Column I Column II
A $H_2N - \overset{+}{N}H_3Cl^-$ P Sodium fusion extract of the compound gives Prussian blue colour with $FeSO _{4}$.
B image Q Gives positive $FeCl _{3}$ test.
C image R Gives white precipitate with $AgNO _{3}$.
D image S Reacts with aldehydes to form the corresponding hydrazone derivative

JEE AdvancedJEE Advanced 2008

Solution:

The observed changes can be explained on the basis that sodium fusion extract give Prussian blue colour on treatment with $FeSO _{4}$ when nitrogen is present along with carbon.
Phenolic and carboxylate groups give positive test with $Fe Cl _{3}$ White precipitate with $AgNO _{3}$ is formed when chloride ions are present.
Formation of hydrazine derivatives takes place on reaction of hydrazine with aldehyde.
