Q. If work is done on the system in an adiabatic process,

Thermodynamics

Solution:

In adiabatic process, heat remains constant.
So, from first law of thermodynamics
$\Delta Q=\Delta U+\Delta W$
$\Rightarrow \Delta U+\Delta W=0$
When work is done on system, $ \Delta W=- ve$
$\Rightarrow \Delta U=-\Delta W=+ ve $
As, $ \Delta U=\mu C_{V} \Delta T=+ ve$
$ \Rightarrow \Delta T=+ ve $
$\Rightarrow T$ increases or $T_{f}>T_{i} .$
