Q. If rope of lift breaks suddenly the tension exerted by the surface of lift will be: (a = acceleration of lift)

Laws of Motion

Solution:

After breaking the rope the lift undergoes free fall,
hence acceleration becomes zero
$T = m (g - a)$
$\Rightarrow T = m(g - g) = 0$
