Q. If equivalent conductance of $1M$ benzoic acid is $12.8ohm\_{}^{- 1}cm^{2}eq^{- 1}$ and the equivalent conductance of benzoate ion and $H^{+}$ ion at infinite dilution are $42$ and $288.42ohm^{- 1}cm^{2}eq^{- 1}$ respectively then its degree of dissociation is :-

Solution:

Degree of dissociation $\left(\right.\alpha \left.\right)=\frac{\left(\lambda \right)_{m}}{\lambda _{m}^{\infty }}$
$\therefore \alpha =\frac{12 . 8}{42 + 288 . 42}\times 100=3.9\%$
