Q. If a machine performs $4000\, J$ of output work and $1000 \,J$ is energy loss due to friction then, find efficiency of machine

JIPMERJIPMER 2018Work, Energy and Power

Solution:

Efficiency = $\frac{output \,work}{heat \,taken}$
$=\frac{4000}{4000+1000}=\frac{4}{5}\quad100 = 80\%$
