Q. Hydrogen and helium volume $V$ at same temperature $T$ and same pressure $p$ are mixed to have same volume $V$. The resulting pressure of the mixture will be

AMUAMU 2003

Solution:

From ideal gas equation, we have
$pV = RT$
When two gases are mixed, then
$ pV+pV=p'V $
$ \Rightarrow $ $ p'=2p $
Hence, resultant pressure will be doubled.
