Q.
For equilibrium, value of $\theta$ is
Laws of Motion
Solution:
Let T be the tension in each string supporting $\sqrt{2} \, m$, then T cos $\theta$ + T cos $\theta = \sqrt{2}$ mg i.e. 2 T cos $\theta$ = $\sqrt{2}$ mg But T = mg also $\therefore $ 2 mg cos $\theta = \sqrt{2} $ mg i.e. cos $\theta = \frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}$ i.e. $\theta$ 45$^\circ$
