Q. FeCl3 on reaction with K4[Fe(CN)6 ]in aqueous solution gives blue colour. These are separated by a semi-permeable membrane AB as shown. Due to osmosis, there isChemistry Question Image

Solutions

Solution:

Osmotic pressure =iCRT
For FeCl3 solution, i=4,
therefore i×C=4×(0.1) and for K4[Fe(CN)6]i=5,
and i×C=5× (0.01)×M
Since, i×C is more for FeCl3 solution and we know that in osmosis,
flow of solvent takes place from dilute to a concentrated solution.
So, the blue colour formation will not take place.
