Solution:

On decomposition, $BaCO _{3}$ liberates $CO _{2}$ as
$ \underset{197\, g}{BaCO _{3}} \longrightarrow BaO +\underset{22.4\, L \text{at STP}}{CO_2}$
$\because 197\, g \text { of } BaCO _{3} $ gives $=22.4 \, L \text { of } CO _{2} $ at STP
$\therefore 9.85\, g \text { of } BaCO _{3} $ will give $=\frac{22.4 \times 9.85}{197}=1.12 \, L$
