Q. A wire is sliding on two parallel conducting rails placed at a separation of $1\, m$ as shown in the figure. Magnetic field of $2\, T$ exists in a direction perpendicular to the rails. The necessary force required to keep the wire moving with a constant velocity of $1\, cm / s$ is $n \times 10^{-4} N$. Find $n$.Physics Question Image

Solution:

$F=\frac{B^{2} v l^{2}}{R}=\frac{4 \times 10^{-2} \times 1}{50}$
$=8 \times 10^{-4} N$
