Q. A vessel containing water has area of cross- section $16 cm ^{2} $. A small square hole of side $1 cm$ is at the bottom. What will be the time taken by the water to empty the vessel if vessel is filled up to the height of $32 \,cm$ ? $\left( g =9.8 m / s ^{-2}\right)$

Solution:

$t=\frac{A}{A_{0}} \sqrt{\frac{2 H}{g}}=\frac{16 \times 10^{-4}}{1 \times 10^{-4}} \sqrt{\frac{2 \times 32 \times 10^{-2}}{9.8}}$
$t=\frac{16 \times 8 \times 10^{-1}}{\sqrt{0.8}}=\frac{12.8}{313}=4.08 \sec$
