Q. A standard filament lamp consumes $100\, W$ when connected to $200 \, V$ ac mains supply. The peak current through the bulb will be :

NEETNEET 2022Alternating Current

Solution:

$ I _{\text {rms }} V _{\text {rms }}= P$
$I _{\text {rms }} \times 200=100 $
$ I _{\text {rms }}=\frac{1}{2}$
So, $I_{\text {peak }}=I_{\text {rms }} \sqrt{2}$
$=\frac{1}{2} \times \sqrt{2}$
$=\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}=0.707\, A$
