Q. A mixture of boron trichloride and hydrogen is subjected to silent electric discharge to form A and $ \text{HCl}\text{.} $ A is mixed with $ \text{N}{{\text{H}}_{\text{3}}} $ and heated to $ \text{200}{{\,}^{\text{o}}}\text{C} $ to form B. The formula of B is

Solution:

When a mixture of $ \text{BC}{{\text{l}}_{\text{3}}} $ and $ {{\text{H}}_{2}} $ is subjected to silent electric discharge, diborane and $ \text{HCl} $ are formed and diborane reacts with NH3 at $ 200{{\,}^{o}}C $ to give borazine (inorganic benzene). $ 2BC{{l}_{3}}+6{{H}_{2}}\xrightarrow[\text{discharge}]{\text{Electric}}\underset{(A)}{\mathop{{{B}_{2}}{{H}_{6}}}}\,+6HCl $ $ \underset{\,\,\,\,1\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,:}{\mathop{3{{B}_{2}}{{H}_{6}}}}\,+\underset{2}{\mathop{6N{{H}_{3}}}}\,\xrightarrow{20\,0{{\,}^{o}}C}\underset{\begin{smallmatrix} \text{Borazine} \\ (B) \end{smallmatrix}}{\mathop{2{{B}_{3}}{{N}_{3}}{{H}_{6}}}}\,+12{{H}_{2}} $
