Then calculate total pressure (in $mmHg$ ) in container (after connecting container for long time). Given $R=0.0821$ $L-atmK^{- 1}mol^{- 1}$

Solution:

Let $X$ mole of $O_{2}$ in container $II$
$\left(1 - x\right)\frac{R \times 400}{16 . 42}=\frac{xR \times 300}{8 . 21}$
$x=\frac{2}{5}$
$\therefore P_{T}=\frac{2}{5}\times \frac{R \times 300}{8 . 21}=\frac{6}{5}atm=\frac{6}{5}\times 760=912mmHg$
