Q. A compound $X$, of boron reacts with $NH _{3}$ on heating to give another compound $Y$ which is called inorganic benzene. The compound $X$ can be prepared by treating $BF _{3}$ with Lithium aluminium hydride. The compounds $X$ an $Y$ are represented by the formulas.

Solution:

$BF _{3} \xrightarrow[-LiF,-AlF_3]{ LiAlH _{4}} \underset{( X )}{ B _{2} H _{6}}\xrightarrow[-H_2]{ NH _{3} / \Delta} \underset{( Y )}{ B _{3} N _{3} H _{6}}$
$(X) \Rightarrow B_{2} H_{6}$ (Diborane)
$(Y) \Rightarrow B_{3} N_{3} H_{6}$ (Borazine or inorganic benzene)
