The distance covered by a body moving with uniform acceleration is given by $ s=ut+\frac{1}{2}a{{t}^{2}} $ As body starts from rest, therefore initial velocity u = 0 $ \therefore $ Distance covered by the body $ s=\frac{1}{2}a{{t}^{2}} $ or $ s\propto {{t}^{2}} $
