Q. A body falls freely for $10 \, s$ . Its average velocity during this journey is $\left(\text{Take } g = 10 \, m \, s^{- 2}\right)$

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

Average velocity
$=\frac{T o t a l \, D i s p l a c e m e n t}{T i m e \, i n t e r v a l}$
In 10 s, the distance covered by the body
$s=\frac{1}{2}gt^{2}$
$\therefore \, \, \, s=\frac{1}{2}\left(10\right)\times \left(10\right)^{2}=500 \, m$
$\nu_{a v}=\frac{500}{10}=50 \, m \, s^{- 1}$
