Q. A $60\, \mu F$ capacitor is connected to a $110\, V , 60\, Hz\, AC$ supply. The rms value of the current in the circuit is

Alternating Current

Solution:

$X_{C} =\frac{1}{2 \pi v C}=\frac{1}{2(3.14)\left(60 s ^{-1}\right)\left(60 \times 10^{-6} F \right)}$
$=44.2\, \Omega$
$I_{\text{ rms} }=\frac{\varepsilon_{ \text{rms} }}{X_{C}}=\frac{110\, V }{44.2\, \Omega}$
$=2.49\, A$
